BEGINNER GRAPHIC DESIGN PRACTICE

Learn by making.
Not by waiting
to feel ready.

If you are new to graphic design, the hardest part is often deciding what to make. 30 Days of Design gives you one structured brief at a time so you can practice layout, typography, branding, packaging, UI, editorial design, and more without inventing the assignment first.

WHY IT WORKS FOR BEGINNERS

Enough structure to start. Enough freedom to learn.

01 · NO BLANK CANVAS

Every project starts with a brief.

You get a scenario, audience or goal, deliverable, and useful limits. Your job is to make the design decisions.

02 · RANGE

Try different design disciplines.

Move between identity, posters, editorial, packaging, UI, information design, campaigns, illustration, and portfolio work.

03 · FINISH

Practice completing work.

A finished response gives you something to evaluate. That feedback loop is more useful than endlessly collecting tutorials.

A SIMPLE BEGINNER WORKFLOW

Use the same five moves every day.

STEP 01

Read the whole brief.

Underline the goal, required pieces, and constraints before choosing a style.

STEP 02

Pick one direction.

Write one sentence describing your idea. This keeps the design from becoming a pile of unrelated choices.

STEP 03

Set limits.

Choose a format, a small type system, a color direction, and a realistic amount of time.

STEP 04

Make a complete version.

Get every required piece onto the page before you spend too long polishing one detail.

STEP 05

Check the hierarchy.

Ask what the viewer sees first, second, and third. Adjust scale, spacing, contrast, and alignment.

STEP 06

Save a reflection.

Record one decision that worked and one thing you would change. That makes each project useful practice.

WHAT YOU WILL PRACTICE

Not thirty versions of the same poster.

DAYS 01–07Core visual decisions: monograms, posters, album art, branding, typography, icons, and editorial layout.
DAYS 08–15Systems thinking: packaging, campaigns, wayfinding, covers, patterns, data graphics, and a midpoint rebrand.
DAYS 16–23Application: landing pages, stickers, menus, sports identities, tickets, causes, luxury packaging, and dashboards.
DAYS 24–30Presentation: mascots, newspapers, ads, instructions, collaborations, case studies, and your final showcase.
BEGINNER FAQ

Questions before Day 1.

Is this graphic design challenge good for complete beginners?

Yes. The briefs give you a problem, goal, deliverable, and constraints so you have enough structure to begin. You can use the tools you already know while learning through finished projects.

Do I need Adobe software?

No. You can work in Figma, Canva, Affinity, Procreate, Adobe apps, traditional media, or another design workflow.

How long should I spend on each challenge?

There is no required time limit. For beginners, a focused 45 to 90 minute session is often enough to make decisions, finish a clear response, and write a short reflection.

What if I miss a day?

Nothing resets. Your next brief unlocks on your personal schedule, while older unlocked projects remain available for catch-up.

Will I have a portfolio at the end?

Yes. Completed projects feed into your 30 Days of Design portfolio, and you can export the run as a polished PDF.
